Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void
This is the best book I have read in the last ten years. I have talked about it to almost everyone that I know.
It was well written and covered the serious and not so serious parts of the space program. You will learn the things you never thought to ask, and laugh out loud at the most mundane parts of the job. The book is very engaging and you only put it down because life has to go on, even when you’re reading the best book of the last decade.
People that only casually follow the space program will enjoy this book. It is one of the rare finds that I think most people will have a ball reading. The reader never knows what the author is going to say next, but they know it is going to be good and probably blow their socks off. One of the best lines from the book: “I lubed my ass for science.”
Run, don’t walk, and get this book.
